Heidi works with clients using nutrition therapy, body image healing, and Somatic Experiencing (SE) to build a healthy relationship with food, body, and self.

  • GROUP COUNSELING

Heidi facilitates therapeutic book clubs: small recovery support communities for those looking for a more mindful, intuitive, and non-prescriptive way of eating and relating to their bodies.

  • SUPERVISION FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

Heidi provides individual and group supervision and consultation for dietitians/nutritionists and other professionals who see clients with disordered eating and body image concerns.

My Approach

Though trained in nutrition science and psychology, I have a holistic view of nutrition, the body, and my clients.

Read about the different aspects of my approach here.

  • Somatic Experiencing™ is a method used to assist clients, particularly those with trauma histories, find self-regulation and feel more at home in their bodies and selves. I aim to inspire clients, readers, students, and professional colleagues (particularly those who identify as women), to be truly embodied in a world that does not always encourage this.

  • This is not traditional weight-loss counseling. No evidence supports that focusing on weight works or improves lives. Instead, we focus on developing nourishing habits and building a life free of food and body misery at any size.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) uses mindfulness and cognitive behavioral skills that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing and moving towards values instead of dwelling on the negative.

What Clients Say

"I am happy to report that my disordered eating patterns have significantly decreased. Much of my progress is thanks to you. I no longer feel nervous or anxious when in the presence of food. I am no longer tempted to 'secret eat' when I am alone with food. I have become a more natural, intuitive eater -- which has enabled me to identify foods I like/dislike (compared to when I used to want all foods because I felt like I wasn't allowed to have any!).
